Usher Will Be Honored With BET’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Usher Raymond will be awarded BET’s Lifetime Achievement award.

The network reports the Grammy winner will be honored for his iconic career during a live broadcast on June 30.

Usher To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

The 45-year-old has had an amazing year — this well-deserved recognition is the cherry on top. Usher had a commendable performance at the Apple Music halftime show for Super Bowl LVII in February. Additionally, he released his 9th studio album, ‘Coming Home’ the same month. It charted in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. Furthermore, Usher was named ‘Essence’s Sexiest Man of the Moment’ in April. Last year, Usher’s high-energy Vegas residency ended with a warm reception after continuously making headlines in 2023.

The coveted BET Lifetime Achievement award pays homage to innovators in the music industry and to those who contribute to culture. It recognizes their achievement on stage and their acts of philanthropy out of the spotlight. Past recipients include Prince, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, New Edition, Lionel Richie, Anita Baker, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Usher’s relationship with BET spans decades. BET’s EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, Connie Orlando, stated, “…from his multiple appearances on 106 & Park, to most recently winning the Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 55th NAACP Image Awards.”

Additionally, the exec noted Usher’s “electrifying performances and unforgettable vocals to his signature moves and sound.” She said, “USHER continues to stand on culture, setting new standards for the music industry and Black Excellence.”

Orlando added, “We look forward to creating an amazing lineup to pay tribute to our global icon.”

Furthermore, Surprise guest singers will hit the stage to perform some of Usher’s most beloved tracks.

Usher’s Killer Career

Big Ush is one of the best-selling artists in music, periodt. The singer’s classic albums, ‘My Way’ and ‘Confessions,’ are arguably two of the best R&B albums ever created. His career has spanned three decades, and he has sold over 80 million albums globally. Usher has racked up a total of eight Grammys over his career.

The crooner is also generous after he puts his abs away and exits the stage. He has an unwavering commitment to social activism and philanthropy. Usher is the founding chairman of the New Look Foundation. 55,000 youth across the globe have benefited through education and mentorship. Furthermore, his humanitarian acts earned him recognition, including the Morehouse College Candle Award in 2014 and the NAACP’s 2010 Ford Freedom Award Scholar.
