The MOST AWKWARD Moments Between Prince Harry & Prince William Amid Royal Feud!
Now that Prince Harry is moving back to the UK, we just can’t help but wonder… how does Prince William feel about it???
The way things have been, well, let’s just say the tension between those two is palpable!
The brothers have been feuding for so long, it’s hard to remember a time when they were thick as thieves, but these awkward moments will have you wishing for a rewind button!!! It’s just TOO painful to watch them interact these days!
And not because it’s too sad — though there is a lot of sadness. William and Harry just can’t seem to be near each other without it turning into a mess! Hopefully they’ll reconcile after Harry settles back in.

The Sandringham Summit
After Harry and Meghan decided to leave the royal family in 2020, Harry attended a crisis meeting known as the Sandringham Summit, held by Queen Elizabeth II. Key family members, including William and then-Prince Charles, gathered to discuss the couple’s future.
In his Netflix doc Harry & Meghan, the Duke of Sussex said his family chose to wait until his wife returned to Canada to hold the meeting:
“It was only once Meg had left and gone back to Canada that it was then arranged that there was going to be a meeting at Sandringham on the following Monday.”
And yeah, that hurt her feelings! Meghan reflected:
“Imagine a conversation, a roundtable discussion about the future of your life. When the stakes are this high. And you as the mom and the wife and the target, in many regards, aren’t invited to have a seat at the table.”
Brutal.
According to Harry, he and Meg were offered five options moving forward — everything from “all in, no change” to “all out.” They wanted something more in the middle, but the option was rejected. He said:
“It became very clear very quickly that that goal was not up for discussion or debate. It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father say things that simply weren’t true, and my grandmother quietly sit there and sort of take it all in.”
After the meeting, it was determined that the couple would stop using their HRH titles and Harry would lose his military roles and return his royal patronages to the monarch. Of course, he also lost access to taxpayer-funded security, which has been a big pain in his ass ever since!
Commonwealth Service
This was one icy “farewell week”!
In March 2020, ahead of walking away from their working royal roles, Harry and Meghan stepped out with their family for a Commonwealth service appearance. In his Netflix doc, Harry described it:
“We were nervous seeing the family because all the TV cameras and everybody watching at home and everybody watching in the audience. It’s like living through a soap opera where everybody else views you as entertainment.”
He continued:
“I felt really distant from the rest of my family, which was interesting because so much of how they operate is about what it looks like, rather than what it feels like. And it looked cold. But it also felt cold.”
Harry and Meghan sat in the second row, behind William and Princess Catherine in the front. Meghan gave a small wave as she and Harry said hello to the couple, but they certainly didn’t get a warm reaction! Take a look:

The Diana Statue Unveiling
In 2021, the brothers put on a big show of unity by stepping out together at the unveiling of a statue for their mother, Princess Diana. Despite putting on friendly faces at the event, there was a ton of drama behind the scenes — so much that the moment almost didn’t happen!!!
According to The Times‘ sources, William was “furious” with his younger brother and “didn’t want to attend” with him! Another source said the father of three had “taken the view that he could only ‘give so much’” when it came to repairing his relationship with Harry at the time. It sounds like he was just done trying… and it would’ve made quite the statement if he’d shown up alone!
But, thankfully, the family has Kate Middleton to thank for the reunion and for helping them all avoid unsavory national headlines that would’ve overshadowed the special moment. She was “amazing behind the scenes when Harry came,” a source dished. Another insider described her as a “peacemaker,” adding:
“[William] has had a year from hell and she has been fantastic supporting him.”
The “Fab Four” Walkabout
This really highlighted how tense things were so long ago.
When Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2022, the royal family was brought together publicly for the first time since Harry and Meghan put their relatives on blast post-Megxit. There was already a lot of controversy over how the family dealt with informing Harry of his grandmother’s passing, resulting in him not arriving in time to say goodbye.
In honor of Elizabeth, Harry and Meghan stepped out with Prince William and Princess Catherine for a surprise joint appearance outside of Windsor Castle.
Check out the video of the HIGHLY awkward interaction (below), in which the Suits alum is largely sidelined by her in-laws, and lip readers even think Kate told the brothers to “stop arguing” as they set out on their royal duty.
According to Robert Jobson in his book Our King:
“Catherine later admitted to a senior royal that, such was the ill feeling between the two couples, the joint walkabout was one of the hardest things she’d ever had to do.”
Bonus: The Fight
This alleged fight went far beyond awkward into VERY terrible territory! According to Harry in his tell-all Spare, his big brother physically attacked him at his London home while arguing about Meg in 2019! Apparently, the Prince of Wales called the former actress “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive,” which naturally sparked a verbal argument between the siblings. At one point, William supposedly grabbed Harry by the collar, ripped his necklace, and pushed him to the ground. Harry broke a dog bowl during the fall. Jeez!
We’re cringing from afar at these interactions. We can’t imagine what it must’ve been like to be there! Damn!
