2 Women Found Dead in Texas Apartment After Murder-Suicide
Authorities confirmed that two women were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at an apartment in Wells Branch, Texas.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies were called to an apartment complex on Shoreline Drive around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, after a property manager discovered the two women, according to CBS Austin.
The manager told authorities that they went to the apartment to perform management duties. After there was no response at the door, the manager entered the unit and discovered the two women dead inside.
An investigation was launched into the matter, and preliminary evidence indicated that the women may have died in a murder-suicide. However, authorities said that the investigation still remains in its early stages and a motive is not yet clear.
The sheriff’s office added that they do not believe a third party was involved, and there is no known threat to the public related to the murder-suicide.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the women, and it’s not known what their relationship was to each other. Police have also not said if both women lived in the apartment unit together.
Travis County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Kristin Dark later spoke to reporters near the scene, where she revealed more insight into the tragedy. She said that the front door was ajar when the manager went to the apartment unit, according to Fox 7 Austin.
Dark added that authorities received no reports of a disturbance, strange noises or gunshots before the manager found the women and called 911 to report the findings.

She also confirmed that both women were found with gunshot wounds. Dark added that the killings likely happened before daylight hours based on the state of the bodies.
The sheriff’s office said that the suspected murder-suicide marks its 13th homicide investigation since the beginning of 2026. The number is a drastic increase from the previous year, as they only investigated eight homicides in all of 2025.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Us’ request for comment when asked about updates in the case. The investigation into the tragedy remains ongoing as police work to determine what happened leading up to the deaths.
