Brady Tkachuk has become one of the faces of Team USA hockey, but he had no problem calling out the White House for blurring the lines between fact and fiction.

Tkachuk, 26, who won gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics, responded after the White House’s official TikTok account released a doctored video that showed him saying about Canada, “They booed our national anthem, so I had to come out and teach those maple syrup–eating f***s a lesson.”

“Well, it’s clearly fake, because it’s not my voice, not my lips moving,” Tkachuk told reporters on Thursday, February 26. “I’m not in control of any of those accounts. I know that those words would never come out of my mouth. So, I can’t do anything about it.”

The video is still available to view on the White House’s account and has been viewed more than 11 million times.

“It’s not my voice. It’s not what I was saying,” Tkachuk continued. “I would never say that. That’s not who I am, so I guess I don’t like that video because that would never come out of my mouth, and [I] never had that thought.”

Tkachuk plays for the NHL’s Ottawa Senators, who returned to action on Thursday night in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Tkachuk’s Team USA teammate Dylan Larkin scored both goals for Detroit.

On the Thursday episode of the NHL star’s podcast “Wingmen,” which he cohosts with his brother and Team USA teammate Matthew Tkachuk, Brady revealed a surprising story from the aftermath of the Americans’ gold medal victory over Team Canada on Sunday, February 22.

“I got snatched after the game, after you do the media. … I’m like ‘F*** yeah, let’s go have some beers and party,’” Brady said. “I get a tap on the shoulder, ‘Hello Brady, you’ve been selected for a drug test.’”

Matthew, 28, explained the intimate details about the testing protocols.

“The drug testing is like, ‘Brady, take your time, I’m not rushing you to go piss right now. But, like, I will be just standing by you where I can see you until you have to go,’” he said. “So, we’re in the locker room partying and Brady’s buddy, you know, little Johnny the drug tester, is, like, just sitting in the corner, just, you know, arms crossed and just watching us have the greatest time.”

Matthew added, “He probably watched Brady delete 10 beers before he had to piss.”

“Usually after games I can pee, but for some reason I just couldn’t,” Brady recounted. “It was the pressure of peeing so I could go celebrate.”

Brady said two other players got pulled for drug testing who were able to provide a urine sample “right away.”

“They missed a couple of songs [in the locker room],” Brady said. “I was like, ‘I am not missing a single moment. So, if I have to, I will hold it.’ But I just couldn’t pee. I remember I had, like, five beers, three Powerades, two waters in, like, a 40-minute span.”

Ten minutes before Team USA left the arena, Brady was able to provide enough of a sample to return a clean test, and the party raged on.
