Alexia Barrier’s Famous Project initiative will bring together an all-female crew from around the world, breaking the previous all-male record held by Jules Verne.
Wipro will equip the vessel with digital twin technology to track and improve its performance.

Jules Verne Trophy; This is a prestigious award that recognizes the fastest circumnavigation of the world and is considered one of the world’s most difficult oceanographic challenges.
The Famous Project crew is led by renowned offshore skipper Alexia Barrier (FRA), who has circumnavigated the globe 10 times during her 20-year career and in 2021 completed and participated in the iconic solo non-stop Vendée Globe He crossed the Atlantic no less than 18 times during the race.
Her co-captain is Dee Caffari (UK), a record-breaking circumnavigation sailor who has sailed around the world six times and is the only woman to circumnavigate the globe solo in both directions.

Completing the Jules Verne Trophy challenge with an all-female crew would be a world first.
To date, no female team has challenged the trophy worldwide, nor have any women been part of a team that conquered the legendary Jules Verne trophy.

To prepare for their attempt, the team will begin a training program in which they will compete in several races and break the record before beginning the record attempt in October 2025. The crew will be aboard the 100-foot Ultime trimaran IDEC Sport, the boat that currently holds Jules Verne’s record.
