American media and entertainment company Warner Bros. Discovery on Wednesday opened its ‘Hyderabad Competence Center’, its first greenfield office in Asia, here.
Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said after inaugurating the center: “This is the company’s first greenfield office in Asia after the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery.”
The competency center will serve as a strategic hub for the company’s operations in India. After a meeting in the United States between state officials and company representatives in May, a government official said the center would have 1,200 employees in its first year of operation.
Addressing a rally on Wednesday, the minister said the IT workforce in Telangana has increased from 3.23 lakh when the state was formed in 2014 to 10 lakh now.
“Hyderabad has overtaken Bengaluru as the preferred destination for global competency centers in the first half of 2023,” the minister said in a statement.
