We recently traveled to Connecticut to enjoy the cool weather off the coast. It was great to get out of the crazy heat we’ve been through and I’m leaving excited for fall! It’s also the perfect time to go out for a spin with Vineyard Vines’ latest fall womenswear collection. Their latest offerings include classic staples, beautiful fall shades, and fun fall layering, all of which deserve to be on my fall wish list! Today, I’m going to highlight some of my favorite Vineyard Vines items and share some tips on how to layer up for the cold weather so we can be prepared when the cold weather arrives. Not that you’ll find me wishing summer was gone!

Vineyard Vines was founded in 1998 by brothers Shep and Ian, who left their corporate jobs to build a fashion empire. The label’s tagline is “Every Day Should Feel This Good,” and its preppy, playful whale is its signature symbol. Vineyard Vines is known for classics like the iconic half-zip and whale totes. Their fall collection is no exception! Their new lineup includes a lot of great pieces—starting with this cable-knit sweater and these kick ropes. But it doesn’t stop at the classics. I’m obsessed with their incredible fashion pieces like this cricket sweater and this silk dress! You’ll also find wide-leg chinos, satin slip dresses and pearl drop earrings to complement any fall outfit.
The Vineyard Vines women’s fall palette is made up of classics like navy and cream, as well as some really fun pops of color. The reddish orange of this cocktail sauce and this British racing green tug at my heartstrings!

How to Layer for Cold Weather
As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I have a soft spot for layering clothes. Layering blazers and coats over tops, draping sweaters over shoulders, layering different shades of the same color…I love it all! Not just in fall, I love layering year-round (unless it’s super hot!) I think layering offers an easy way to add color and dimension to an outfit. Of course, they also keep you warm during the colder months!
So when I got my hands on these new Vineyard Vines womenswear pieces, I couldn’t resist creating some layered looks for fall. Since the season is just around the corner, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite tips on how to layer your clothes in the cold weather. Because even in autumn and winter, it is possible to stay stylish while staying comfortable!
1. Bright and colorful socks
Adding bright and colorful socks is a fun (and affordable!) way to keep warm with a pop of color. You can wear them with a dress and heels, or with jeans or pants and loafers.
2. Over the shoulder coat
It’s a no-brainer, easy option! Basically, whenever I’m away from home and it’s cool outside, you’ll see me wearing a coat or layered over my shoulders. Plus, you can swap out your coat for a blazer for a lightweight option.
3. Collar and cuffs
How to wear a collared top in cold weather? Use the collar and cuffs for contrast! Seeing these pieces layered under a sweater instantly elevates the overall look.
4. Protect the neck
Add a turtleneck for an easy upgrade. There are many ways to do this – wear one under a nightdress, sweater or blazer. Don’t be afraid to slip a turtleneck over your oxfords like I did for my new Vineyard Vines!
5. Stay invested
Tank tops are the perfect way to layer while still letting your sweater shine! Add a down vest to this Vineyard Vines varsity sweater for a pleasing pop of color without compromising the rest of the ensemble. Plus, it helps keep you warm!
6. Double trouble
Double the sweater, double the comfort! I’m a big fan of layering sweaters and draping them over my shoulders for an extra pop of color.
7. Best Dressed
Turn a dress into a skirt by adding a button-down shirt and sweater—easy and easy! I love the depth and color this layering technique brings to this Vineyard Vines costume.
8. Learn about knee height
How to layer for cold weather on a budget Try layering your shoes! The toe of the high sock adds a unique element to the garment and provides extra warmth.
9. Don’t forget about accessories
Layer a necklace, wear a watch over a sweater or add a pair of classic earrings. There are many ways to layer accessories. As I did with this Vineyard Vines look, adding a crossbody bag is always the perfect finishing touch!
10. Monochrome Love
When layering for cooler weather, don’t be afraid to add monochrome pieces. Combining products in different shades of the same color is bold and fun! You can also accessorize or layer a collared shirt underneath to break it up with a pop of other colors.

Vineyard Vines Fall Womenswear Collection
Well, now that I’ve shared some tips on how to layer your clothes in the cold weather, I want to go back and highlight some of my favorite Vineyard Vines pieces. There are really a lot of good people this season!
