Heineken-owned spirits maker United Breweries has appointed Vivek Gupta as managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) for the period from September 25, 2023 to September 24, 2028, according to an exchange filing.
It also appointed Gupta as an additional director to the company’s board of directors, effective September 25, 2023. Both appointments are subject to approval by the company’s shareholders, the company noted.
Gupta, 47, is an engineering graduate with a master’s degree in business administration from IIM, Ahmedabad. His extensive experience in commercial and leadership roles with multinational corporations and new-age start-ups in international markets and in India has enriched his deep knowledge of go-to-market channels and understanding of operating complex businesses in both traditional and digital environments. , the company said.

Together with the UBL leadership team, Gupta will be responsible for driving the company’s sustainable growth. The company further noted that he will lead the premiumization of UBL’s product portfolio, including strengthening the Kingfisher brand.
Previously, Gupta spent more than two decades at Procter & Gamble in leadership and commercial roles across categories ranging from consumer staples to premium categories. His last position with Procter & Gamble was Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand. He joined UBL from udaan.com, one of the unicorns in India.
