Four people, including a child and a baby, were found dead after a house was engulfed in flames and the front door was blocked, local police said.
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), at around 8:40 a.m. PDT Saturday, an 11-year-old child reported a death to police at her home in the Wallingford, Washington, neighborhood of Seattle.
The child reportedly told police she climbed out of a window of a home on North 48th Street, Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz told a news conference with local media shortly after the incident. , ran to the neighbor’s house for help.

Diaz said that within five minutes of the child calling 911, officers arrived at the home but were unable to open the front door and realized the house was on fire.
“We do know that the front door was blocked by some kind of object, and the police tried to kick it down to open the front door,” Diaz said. “There was also a fire at the time. Diaz said the four people found dead appeared to be living in the burned-out residence, but he could not confirm any other details, including names or ages. The police chief said the cause of death of both adults and children will be determined once the medical examiner completes the autopsy.
The 11-year-old who called 911 also appeared to be a resident of the home, Diaz said, adding that he could not provide any other information about the child, including whether she was related to the deceased.
The police chief said they were still working to find family members to care for the child, and said that while she was “safe,” the Social Police Service was working to help provide the child with resources to cope with the ordeal.
“It’s traumatizing for anyone who calls 911 and says, you know, someone in the house may have died,” Diaz said, adding that the Social Police Department is “working with that kid to determine what happened. “.
The fire severely damaged the front of the home and it took firefighters about 45 minutes to get it under control, Scroggins said. The fire chief said arson investigators and bomb squads were on the scene investigating the cause of the blaze.
