Landmark event attracts luminaries from education, politics and business
TOKYO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Malvern College Tokyo (MCT) held a grand opening ceremony yesterday, officially marking the start of the school’s first academic year starting in August 2023. Officiating guests include HM Julia Longbottom CMG, British Ambassador to Japan; Professor Roger D. Kornberg, Nobel Prize winner in chemistry and professor at Stanford University School of Medicine; Jacqueline So, co-founder and chief executive of Malvern International College Executive Officer; Keith Metcalfe, Principal, Malvern College; and Mike Spencer, Founding Principal, Malvern College, Tokyo. More than 300 guests from the political, educational and business circles celebrated this event together.
Ambassador Longbottom spoke of the importance of having a respected British educational institution in Japan: “When you are looking to push the boundaries of international education in Japan, this is a school that can draw on the strengths of two different cultures.”
Ms Su explained that MCT will provide a rich learning environment: “This learning sanctuary is not just another school, but a place where young people are nurtured and inspired to embrace international thinking, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, science, sports and the environment .consciousness.”
Professor Kornberg spoke of MCT’s dedication to science: “With its state-of-the-art facilities and well-equipped laboratories, Malvern College Tokyo has the potential to become a center of scientific exploration and discovery.
