NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — In this edition of Tiempo, we discuss New York City’s immigration crisis, regional Mexican music, and the exhibition “The Legend of #21” dedicated to Roberto Clemente.
Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, we will examine the wide-ranging humanitarian, social and economic impacts of the steady influx of asylum seekers. In this edition of Tiempo, we focus on the Biden administration’s expansion of the TPS, or Temporary Protected Status, program. The program is designed to provide some form of humanitarian relief to Venezuelan migrants who arrived in the United States before July 31.
Immigration attorneys Steve Maggi and Renata Castro join Joe Torres to provide insight into how the program works.
In addition, the Paley Center for Media hosts an exhibit titled “The Legend of #21,” which pays tribute to baseball legend Roberto Clemente. The tribute includes interactive exhibits, the legend’s old jerseys, bats and more.
Paley Center for Media President and CEO Maureen Reidy joins a discussion about the exhibition and what you can expect.
Finally, there is a new Latin music revolution, Mexican regional music. It’s a fresh take on a classic genre, updated with an edgy style that’s popular on both sides of the southern border. Eyewitness News reporter Sonia Rincon previews the music breaking out in New York.
