Tomball, Texas — It’s been more than 32 years since Amy Daughters and Dana Rivera last spoke. They worked together as camp counselors in the 1980s, but life changed and they went their separate ways.
In 2014, the two reconnected on Facebook. That’s when Amy discovers that Dana’s son Parker has been diagnosed with cancer.
Instead of leaving a Facebook message, Amy picked up a pen and wrote Dana a handwritten letter.
“When I first wrote to Dana and Parker, I hadn’t written a letter in 25 years,” the daughters said. “For me, it’s a way of saying that I miss them, that I care about them, that I’m praying for them.”
The experience inspired Daughters to write a handwritten letter to 580 of her friends on Facebook. It also inspired Daughters to write Dear Dana: That Time I Went Crazy and Wrote a Handwritten Letter to All 580 of My Facebook Friends.
The daughters shared her experience in the video above.
