Palm Springs, California—— The Palm Springs Aerial Tram has 360-degree views, and the seats in the tram are nice.
As the world’s largest rotating tram, the cable car is one of the most unique ways to get from the desert floor to the 14,000-acre forest.
During the ride, visitors will travel 2.5 miles through five transitional zones with diverse flora and fauna before finally reaching the hill station at an altitude of 8,516 feet.
At Mountain Station, guests can enjoy Peaks Restaurant, “a culinary experience above the clouds.” The Pines Café is cafeteria-style so guests can grab their food and leave, while the Lookout Lounge offers a full cocktail bar and appetizer menu.
From Mountain Station, guests can hike to the summit of Mt. San Jacinto State Park, which is approximately 11 miles round trip and is the second highest point in Southern California. Elsewhere in San Jacinto Mountain State Park, there are more than 40 miles of hiking trails of varying intensity.
One guest commented: “This is a quick and easy way to beat the summer heat and have a great experience to share with the family.”
Due to the high altitude at the top of the mountain, the temperature feels much cooler than at lower altitudes in the city. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is a great summer day trip for all ages.
