NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — Suffolk County, Long Island, has a growing Latino population.
County Police Chief Rodney Harrison recently appointed a Latino liaison officer, a position designed to build relationships between police and the many Latinos who live in the county.
Yasmin Gallant’s role is twofold: providing information to the community and listening to community concerns.
Police have set up a hotline to reach her directly: 934-85-APOYO.
Also on this episode is Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month.
There has never been a better time to highlight and recognize the many contributions Latinos have made in our region.
In this program we introduce you to the New York Latino Film Festival, which will screen over a hundred films this year.
There are screenings, panel discussions, and even a free block party.
