New Jersey (WABC) — At least one person was injured as a storm moved through the tri-state area. Many trees were knocked down, causing traffic disruptions and damage to homes.
Multiple severe thunderstorm warnings were issued in New York and New Jersey.

NJ traffic suspended due to downed tree
New Jersey Transit suspended rail service on the Morris and Essex Line and the Gladstone Branch in both directions between Millburn and Broad Street due to a downed tree on the tracks near Highland Avenue. NJ Transit rail tickets are honored by NJ Transit buses and PATH Crossing.
Bogotá house fire, lightning strike injures 1 firefighter
A house fire in Bogotá, New Jersey, was caused by a lightning strike, according to the fire marshal.
Neighbors said they heard loud thunder just after 3:30 p.m. and when they walked outside they saw the home on Walnut Avenue engulfed in flames.
“It looked like there were fireworks everywhere – like fireworks exploding inside the house,” neighbor Michelle Taveras said. “It was actually pretty scary.”
Bogota, Teaneck and Hackensack fire departments responded to the scene. Officials believe lightning struck an electrical box outside the home, sparking the fire.
Police rescued a man in a wheelchair and his dog from the basement of a house.
One firefighter was injured in the fire.
Tree hits home in Madison, destroying new car
Two people were inside a home in Madison, New Jersey, when a 70-foot-tall maple tree split in half. Part of the tree damaged the rear of the two-family home.
“There was a big hole in the ceiling and water was dripping,” said Jimmy Kilman, who lives in the house. “I looked outside and there was a tree on the car.”
The Honda Odyssey damaged in the storm was brand new, the homeowner said. The car’s windshield was shattered and the hood was damaged by debris.
Cleanup crews are on scene trying to cut down and remove the tree.
Tree falls on house in Madison, injuring one
A tree fell on a home in Madison, New Jersey, injuring one person Friday night.
The tree removed a skylight from the home. The resident suffered cuts to his face and head.
She was treated by EMS at the scene and her condition is unknown at this time.
The house where the tree fell has been boarded up.

A large tree fell on Hughes Street in Maplewood, New Jersey, disrupting traffic in both directions.
New York suffers storm damage
Carmel school bus hit by tree
A large tree fell on a school bus on Agor Lane between Alona Drive and Emily Lane in Carmel, New York. Mahopac Schools Transportation Department is making arrangements for students. No students were injured in the accident.
