Rep. Jorge Santos comments on New York immigration crisis, accuses DHS secretary of lying

NEW YORK (WABC)—— Long Island Congressman Jorge Santos weighed in on New York’s immigration crisis on Saturday, accusing Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of lying.

“Every time the Biden administration brings Secretary Mayorkas in, he blatantly lies to the American people that the border is closed and that we don’t have a border crisis. Secretary Mayorkas, you should resign in disgrace,” Santos said.

Just a day earlier, Mayor Eric Adams announced a deal with the Biden administration to house immigrants at the federally owned Floyd Bennett Field in Queens.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said she wants to create a federal agreement to issue state work permits that would be unprecedented.

Temporary protected status for Venezuelans is as important to her as work permits, she said.
