During the meeting, President Museveni, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian National Defense Forces, and senior military officers reviewed the progress of the Congo (Kinshasa) Shuja operation.
The meeting was part of a memorandum of understanding between the governments of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to jointly combat the Congolese Congolese rebels.
The UDDF delegation was headed by General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, Chief of Defense Forces, and Lieutenant General Christian Tsivewe Songesa, Chief of General Staff, for the FARDC side.

President Museveni has advised senior military officers that if they are to win victory against hostile forces, they must ensure that the troops remain close to the people.
“The army should always be close to the people. You cannot fight without the support of the people,” said General Museveni.
“That’s why the politics and discipline in the military has to be right, otherwise if people get mad at you, even if you fight well, eventually you will lose,” he added.
General Mbadi said the meeting comes at a critical stage that calls for better decision-making by the joint force.
Praising the people, General Mbadi said: “Our efforts must bring peace and security to eastern DRC, especially in the area of operation Shujaa, enabling our people to participate in socio-economic activities for well-being and cross-border trade .” The hardworking people of eastern DRC need nothing more than the government’s peace and security.
“Your presence today clearly demonstrates the importance you attach to the existing bilateral relationship that is growing between our two countries; it is not only the importance you place on the bilateral relationship,” General Mbadi said in welcoming Lieutenant General Ziwewe. , is also an emphasis on Operation Shuja to calm the situation in that part of the country. “
The UDF and FARDC should continue to strengthen defense cooperation, especially in the field of training, and explore available opportunities in the defense industry for the benefit of the two brotherly countries, the defense force said.
Lieutenant General Ziwewe expressed his respect and sympathy to the UPDF soldiers who lost their lives and were wounded on the battlefield in the pursuit of peace during the ongoing Operation Shuja.
“We do not take for granted the sacrifices made by UPDF men and women, casualties on the battlefield, and families of the dead for the sake of peace won for the benefit of other peoples in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda,” said the lieutenant. General Ziwewe pointed out.
