Polkadot community PolkaWorld announced that it has ceased operations after the community’s proposal to receive funds from the Polkadot Treasury was rejected. The group has raised some concerns about the project’s financial management and made some of its claims in a recent statement.
In a post on the official PolkaWorld X (formerly Twitter) account, the organization claim Financial management under Polkadot’s new open governance platform, OpenGov, is impacting long-time contributors to the Polkadot ecosystem. According to PolkaWorld, many organizations are being rejected by the Treasury and are leaving the Polkadot ecosystem.

The organization noted that in the previous governance system, there was a council elected by Polkadot (DOT) holders. According to PolkaWorld, committee members are experts in certain fields and have extensive knowledge in evaluating proposals. PolkaWorld believes that this should be integrated into the current OpenGov system, where governance is determined directly by token holders.
Meanwhile, Markian Ivanichok, founder of the Brushfam platform, which brings business to Polkadot, announced that the project will put Polkadot in the X thread. The founder expressed frustration with Polkadot’s governance system, saying “it’s becoming increasingly difficult to raise capital.”

Polkadot’s OpenGov system was launched earlier this year and is designed to give every token holder a say in shaping the platform. In this way, governance in the network is conducted directly by DOT token holders. They can actively participate in the voting process and vote on proposals aimed at changing their ecosystem.
