Bronx, New York (WABC) — In this episode of Overtime Eyewitness News, first, new information about the Bronx day care tragedy.
One child has died from a fentanyl overdose and three other children are being treated at the hospital, authorities said.
The NYPD is searching for the husband of a daycare operator who was arrested along with her husband’s cousin.
They all face charges including murder.
The mayor and police chief became emotional when speaking about the case.

More children hospitalized due to fentanyl poisoning
Someone overdoses on drugs every three hours in New York City, and most of those overdoses are related to fentanyl. Doctors are now uncovering a disturbing new trend in which most overdoses involve children. As little as two milligrams of a synthetic opioid (the equivalent of some small sugar grains) can be fatal to an adult, let alone a child. In 2018, more than 380 children nationwide died from opioid poisoning, a number that jumped to more than 1,500 in 2021. An increase of more than 300%.
114 arrested at lower Manhattan climate change protest
Demonstrations continued on Wall Street on Monday, a day after protesters took to the Upper East Side to march against fossil fuels, resulting in more than 100 arrests. A total of 114 protesters were arrested and detained during a climate change protest in Lower Manhattan on Monday. Most are expected to be processed and released.
