Brooklyn Bedford-Stevenson (WABC) — Four people were injured in a shooting in Brooklyn on Wednesday and several others were taken into custody, according to police.
The shooting of four people occurred around 3:40 p.m. on Marcus Garvey Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Police say a white 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling south on Marcus Garvey Boulevard from Park Avenue.
When the three men were crossing the road, a passenger in the Hyundai got out and fired several shots at them.
The three men, aged 21, 25 and 34, were shot, officials said. An innocent bystander was also grazed on the shoulder. She was treated at the scene.
Three male victims were taken to Kings County Hospital, two in critical condition and one in stable condition.
After the gunman opened fire, they backed the SUV, which drove away.
Officers heard gunshots, saw the fleeing vehicle and followed the vehicle onto Myrtle Avenue, police said.
The vehicle then turned right and hit two vehicles.
A driver who was hit by a Hyundai was interviewed by reporter CeFaan Kim before being taken to hospital.
“They were coming from that direction, but there was traffic on the left, so they came that way and they hit me,” said victim Luis Cuan. “They ran away and once they hit me , they couldn’t drive anymore, so they got out of the car and started running this way. They shot and killed four people, and I was terrified because they ran in front of me.” My car and I thought they were also would shoot at me – I blocked them. “
The four suspects in the car then fled on foot.
Police arrested three suspects and took them into custody.
One suspect remains unsolved.
It was not immediately clear what caused the shooting, but officials said it was likely gang-related.
Investigation is ongoing.
