Boyle Heights, California— Oaxaca is known to many as the Kitchen of Mexico, and the state’s cuisine continues to grow and develop. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, one of Los Angeles’ favorite Oaxacan restaurants has teamed up with Brooklyn Avenue Pizza Company to create a pizza with authentic Oaxacan flavor.
“Our collaboration with Madre is our interpretation of their Tlayuda,” said Jorge Sandoval, pizzaiolo and executive chef at Brooklyn Avenue Pizza. “It’s a popular dish grown in Los Angeles and also popular in Oaxaca.”
“This is not your typical Mexican fast food pizza,” said Ivan Vasquez, owner of Madre Oaxacan. “It was a real inspiration for two different great restaurants in Los Angeles.”
As part of a unique collaboration, Oaxaca pizza can also be paired with one of three mezcal spirits curated by mezcal and mezcal expert Vasquez.
Brooklyn Ave Pizza Company is partnering with SOMOS Foods to offer two more Latin-inspired pizzas during Hispanic Heritage Month.
