Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police from Nandyal in the early hours of Saturday in connection with the skill development project corruption case.
Naidu was detained by AP police and CID sleuths at the RK Function Hall in the town after facing stiff resistance from TDP activists.
According to the notification issued by the police to the TDP Chairman, a case has been registered against him under various sections 120(8), 166, 167, 418, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201, 109 of the Criminal Procedure Code. . rw 34 and 37 IPC and other sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The atmosphere in the town was tense as a large number of PDP activists gathered at the function hall where Naidu spent the night. Party sources said Naidu will be shifted to Vijayawada and the arrest will be legally challenged.
