M11 Industries Pvt Ltd and the Odisha Department of Horticulture organized an oil palm awareness workshop on August 29 at Gaon Bhatli village in Porangir, Odisha.
About 100 farmers from different neighborhoods in the Bollangir district took part in the event, a media statement said.
Speakers at the event urged farmers to grow oil palm to help India become self-reliant in edible oil production. They said the oil palm crop would also increase the economic income of growers.
Prafulla Kumar Bhanja, deputy director of horticulture in Bollangir, listed the subsidies and incentives provided by the National Edible Oil Mission – Oil Pal (NMEO-OP) for oil palm plantations.
Company representatives assured farmers of marketing and technical assistance for oil palm cultivation, the statement said.
Nasim Ali, former CEO of Godrej Agrovet Ltd and current consultant to M11 Industries Pvt Ltd and MK Agrotech Pvt Ltd, was the keynote speaker at the event.
