VALLEY STREETS, LONG ISLAND (WABC) — Long Island has been arrested for the second time in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred at an illegal party in Valley Stream last month.
Isaiah Gonzalez, 21, was arraigned Saturday on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The arrest came days after police arrested another man, 21-year-old Kyle Matthews, in connection with the incident.
Matthews told reporters Thursday morning that he did not fire his weapon.
Police said they knew who they were looking for based on multiple surveillance videos. They also identified Matthews as one of two shooting suspects in the case.
The shooting, which occurred on Aug. 21 at 85 Ocean Ave., sent dozens of people running for their lives.
DeAndre Carter, a 20-year-old man from Brooklyn, was shot in the chest and died in the shooting, and three children were injured.
A 12-year-old boy standing in a doorway was shot in the upper left shoulder after a bullet entered his back.
Two other 17-year-old boys from El Monte were also attacked. One was hit in the back of the leg and the other was hit in the knee.
The shooting is believed to be gang-related, and police said Matthews, who has been arrested several times before, should have been jailed.
Nassau County Police said: “This man should be in jail so this senseless murder wouldn’t have happened and three other victims were shot because this bad guy is still on the street and that’s what we have to stop.” .” Commissioner Patrick Ryder on Thursday.
Matthews is due back in court next week.
Gonzalez, meanwhile, has an outstanding Nassau County bench warrant from May 3, 2021, for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
