She continued, “So I’m actually lucky in that sense because they still can’t imagine a woman telling jokes and that she might want equal pay for equal work.”
Griffin then recounted a story one of her friends told her. The unnamed friend allegedly attended a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) where Bland was a speaker.
“She later went to hold his hand and wanted to share a moment and she said he walked right up to her, got in her face and pushed his groin into hers,” she claimed. “I won’t even say [he was] Trying to be funny. This is disgusting. “
She then went on to point out the “mentality of a lot of these male comics,” noting that “more [allegations] Coming Up” for male comedians and actors.
“You won’t hear nonsense about Dame Judi Dench,” she said. “You’re not going to hear that Julianne Moore is sexually assaulting someone.”
She continued, “You don’t hear this stuff about Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Sarah Silverman, and Wanda Sykes,” before tagging in the caption of her post The four men were photographed, along with the caption, “Yeah… F**K #russellbrand. I’m off again!”
“The messages you hear about women don’t fall into that category,” she says in the video, noting that her “contemporaries” are often called “difficult, or the B-word, or another B-word ‘bossy.’ , or whatever.”
“I’ve always gotten things that were ‘expensive and difficult,'” she asserts, “because I’ve always strived to get what men get. But you should know that in the female comedy world, it’s always an uphill battle.”
She then told her followers, “It actually gives me a little comfort when people like Russell Brand finally pay some price for the ridiculous success of this behavior.”
