Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes were both at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night, and it was shocking that Zach Wilson was the best quarterback for much of the night.
Wilson was even a bigger star than Taylor Swift, whose presence in the luxury suites added a big-game feel to the event for several hours.
But a Wilson fumble in the fourth quarter opened the door for Mahomes and the Chiefs to beat the Jets 23-20.
It’s a heartbreaking loss for the Jets, but they can also take solace in knowing Wilson proved he can be a competent quarterback.
Wilson overcame a slow start and started throwing the football all over the field.
He looked like he was in command and made some nice throws.
In the second half, he led the Jets to tie the score at 20-20 from a 17-0 deficit.
Things came to a head with 7:24 left in the game and the Jets trailed 20-23.
On second-and-9 from the Chiefs’ 49, Wilson was unable to catch center Connor McGovern’s shotgun attempt, which Chiefs defensive tackle Theshaun Walton had on the Jets’ Got the ball back in the 47th quarter.
