Jamie Foxx put on a “brilliant performance” as he returned to work after a mysterious health scare.
Kristen Radford Thom, who worked with the Oscar winner on BetMGM’s latest promotion in July, told PEOPLE Friday that Foxx is “kind, humble, hilarious — and full of energy! ”
The actress also said the movie star got along well with the crew and that he just “opened up” to the cast.
“Although he was very private, he was very open about our situation without telling us what exactly was going on,” Tom added.
“He’s the best. He’s funny. His ability to improvise is unparalleled. The whole crowd laughs at his jokes. He’s so talented, it’s the most natural thing.”

Geno Burmester, creative director of ad agency 72andSunny, told the outlet that Foxx “brings his charismatic energy into every shot.”
“From the first minute on set, he was laughing and joking with the crew – not to mention it was actually him playing with Ivory on the piano.”

“Even when the cameras are off, he’s always on, telling the crew some of the best stories you’ve ever heard and doing impressions that will stick with you, and they’re so spot-on,” Burmester gushed.
That same month, Fox, 55, was having fun in a commercial and was seen energetically riding a giant boat down the Chicago River in his first public appearance since being hospitalized.

Soon after, Fox took to Instagram to share the “hell of pain” he went through during his mysterious illness three months ago.
“I know a lot of people are waiting or wanting to hear the latest news, but honestly, I don’t want you to see me like that, man,” the “Ray” star explained.
“I want you to see me laughing, having fun, partying, telling jokes, making movies or watching TV shows. I don’t want you to see me with tubes in me and trying to figure out if I’m going to make it through this.”

Although Foxx has been tight-lipped about the details of his medical scare, the award-winning actor said in August that he was “finally” back to his normal self.
“Finally starting to feel like myself…it’s been an unexpectedly dark journey…but I’m seeing the light,” he shared via Instagram at the time, thanking those who sent him well wishes during his recovery.
Since filming her latest ad, Foxx has also been spotted enjoying a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp.
