Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness have announced their separation after 27 years of marriage.
“We have been blessed to have spent nearly three decades together as husband and wife in a beautiful and loving marriage,” the pair announced in a statement shared with People for the first time. “Now our journey is unfolding. For a change, we have decided to separate to pursue personal growth.” and confirmed by CNN.
“Our family has always been, and will always be, our top priority. We begin this next chapter with gratitude, love, and goodwill,” they continued. “We appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family goes through this transition.”

Jackman and Furness met on the set of the TV series “Corelli” in 1995 and married the following year. The two Australian actors have children Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.
Jackman paid tribute to Furness in April to mark their recent wedding anniversary.
“I love you so much,” Jackman wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “Together we created a wonderful family and life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage and loyalty were an incredible gift to me.”
The statement they signed on Friday read “Deb and Hugh Jackman,” concluding: “This is the only statement either of us will make.”
