NEW YORK (WABC)—— Making Money for Free Friday, 7 On Your Side’s Nina Pineda discusses how to make money selling your old tech.

The mission to turn old technology into money has had some surprising results.

First, you might be surprised at how many old cell phones you have lying around. Nina’s search party found four.

The second surprise is that even cracked or broken technology has value.

An iPhone 13 that won’t turn on and is sitting in the kitchen junk drawer is worth almost a buck or nothing, depending on where she goes.

Before trading in your old phone for a new one, you should back up and transfer all your data.

Turn off Find My Phone.

Unpair your device from Apple Watch or AirPods.

And, don’t forget to remove your SIM card.
