Communications Director Elizabeth Alexander said Jill Biden will stay at the couple’s home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for the time being. The first lady had planned to start the school year Tuesday at Northern Virginia Community College, where she teaches English and writing.
Due to her condition, Alexander said she is working with school officials to place substitute teachers for her classes.
The first lady traveled to Florida with her husband on Saturday to inspect damage from Hurricane Idalia. President Biden then spent part of the Labor Day weekend at his beach house in Delaware before heading to Philadelphia on Monday for a union event before returning to the White House.
Both Biden and his son were infected with the new crown virus last summer.
