New York – Join Eyewitness News anchor Sandra Bookman for a special on Sunday, September 17 at 5:30 pm focusing on the importance of art education for children – Finding Inspiration: Children in Art. Watch stories of some incredible projects that teach children to develop creativity through dance, photography, art play and language. Also showcases the ways in which children learn professional skills through artistic exploration.
The show features a unique program designed to teach and celebrate cultural diversity using dance and guided conversation. Children learn understanding, acceptance, respect and compassion while dancing to music from different cultures.
For kids interested in photography, this special event offers a unique opportunity in the Bronx. Middle and high school students from all New York City boroughs learn to use photography, writing, and research in creative ways. Children are encouraged to tell their own stories with documentary photography and learn skills that will help them apply to universities and real-life jobs.
The exhibit also highlights a major museum in New York City that showcases children’s art, allowing children to explore interactive play through hands-on displays and bright themed activities. Children learn about art, culture, science, community and the environment. The museum also has the support and attention of high-profile fans, from “Scandal” star Kerry Washington to First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
This special explores how the arts can help develop children’s minds, sense of self and, ultimately, their place in the world. ABC7NY offers a fascinating look at the shows that shape kids’ lives.
We hope you’ll join us for “Finding Inspiration: Kids in the Arts” – airing Saturday, September 17th at 5:30pm on ABC7NY!
