DUBLIN–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Central Asia Data Center Market – Industry Outlook and Forecast 2023-2028 report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s dedication.
Central Asia data center market is expected to grow from USD 65 million in 2022 to USD 179.7 million in 2028, at a CAGR of 18.47% from 2022 to 2028
The data center market in Central Asia is in an undersaturated stage and is likely to accelerate in the next 2-3 years due to the increase in social and internet penetration and digitalization in the region. Architecture firm DataDome has announced plans to develop a new facility for DataTime in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The facility will house approximately 100 rack cabinets with a power capacity of 500 kW.
Kazakhstan is considered a prime location for data center development in the Central Asian data center market. Kazakhstan is also one of the main centers of cryptocurrency mining, making it the second largest market after the United States. The industry is one of the major hubs for cryptocurrency mining data centers due to the availability of cheap electricity.
Uzbekistan is an emerging data center market in Central Asia and the most populous country in the region. Metrotelecom and Internet exchange provider ITI-IX opened two data center facilities – ITI-IX T252 and ITI-IX T233. The market has some players/vendors active in the Central Asia data center market. However, most infrastructure operators operate through multiple dealers and distributors.
Some of the infrastructure providers active in the Central Asia data center market include ABB, Caterpillar, Cummins, Eaton, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Legrand, Schneider Electric, Vertiv, Stulz, and others.
main trend
5G Deployment Promotes Edge Data Center Development
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other countries in the region have quickly embraced the advancement of 5G technology, positioning themselves as major players in its adoption. One of the standouts is Azercell, a well-known telecom operator from Azerbaijan, which recently successfully completed internal testing of 5G technology. Azercell has made encouraging progress and is preparing to launch a nationwide 5G service, heralding a new era of connectivity for the country.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan continues to gain momentum. Leading telecom operator Mobiuz has launched 5G services in the bustling capital Tashkent. In addition to this, Ucell made history by being the first to launch 5G services in Uzbekistan in 2022.
To make this groundbreaking endeavor possible, the company partnered with Huawei Technologies to provide the necessary equipment. Notably, 5G services were initially rolled out in the vibrant Tashkent business district, laying the groundwork for transformative technological advancements in the region.
Improved inland and internet connectivity
Investment in submarine cables in Central Asia is limited because all countries are landlocked and surrounded by sea. However, Georgia is the only country in the region with a subsea connection, with two operating submarine cables linking the country with Bulgaria and Russia.
Over the years, governments and companies of various countries have continuously strengthened the construction of fiber optic infrastructure to facilitate interconnection with other countries. Some telecommunications providers are investing in improving internet connectivity in the country. In January 2023, Uzbek telecommunications company Uzbektelecom signed a new contract with NEC, Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ), Toyota Tsusho Corporation and NTT Communications to supply equipment for the nationwide expansion of its telecommunications network and connectivity.
Segmentation Insights
The adoption of VRLA batteries in UPS systems is dominating the Central Asia data center market. Operators in the region are still using VRLA batteries. Modular UPS is likely to gain attention during the forecast period.
Due to the scarcity of water and cooling resources, data centers in Central Asia use air cooling technology in the data center. Only a few facilities offer free water cooling.
