Betrayal is a painful reminder that not everyone is worthy of trust, and these words were vividly displayed today when the police, on the orders of Amriyat and Nandala, refused them a meeting of representatives Dr. Gee’s face.
As informed earlier this week, the Katonga faction of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) will hold a special meeting of representatives in Busabala.
FDC deputy treasurer Francis Mwijukye assured delegates that the congress would go ahead despite the court injunction.
Tuesday, however, was the long-awaited day as the police, acting on orders from the party’s Secretary-General Nathan Nandala Mafabi and President Patrick Amuriat Oboi , blocked the Gatonga Road office and Busabara, denying anyone access to nearby areas, especially Busabara, where the meeting was about to take place.

Delegates were supposed to first assemble from the offices on Katonga Road and then proceed to Busabala; however, the meeting was held in Katonga due to roadblocks erected by Busabala police.
In his address to the delegates, four-time presidential candidate and one of the founding members of the Free Democratic Front, Royal Colonel Dr. Kizza Besigye expressed his deep and painful disappointment at the betrayal of his long-struggle comrades; Muriat and Nandala.
Besigye explained that when forming the Democratic Front under the reform agenda, the members set themselves the task of ending military rule in Uganda, but regrettably those who planned with him have now joined those they had been opposing one party.
“The mission we have set ourselves is to end military control of our country. The latest military junta is General Museveni. Unfortunately, this mission we have been pursuing has been undermined by the betrayal of party leaders in whom we trusted Troubled. It is a very sad day indeed as Ugandan leaders continue to betray those who trusted them,” he said.
He also told the delegates present that they were now being hunted not only by General Museveni but also by their former colleagues.
“We must also realize that it is not just the junta that is hunting us down and teargassing us, it is now the junta along with our colleagues. Those who we trust to lead us for the very purpose for which the Free Democratic Front was founded, This is not as surprising as we have been saying because the junta set out to end all voices for change,” he said.
