Lower East Side, Manhattan (WABC) — It’s been a long time coming, but the naming of “Beastie Boys Square” will be officially announced on Saturday.
A street corner made famous by the iconic cover of the hip-hop group’s 1989 album “Paul’s Boutique” will be renamed after New York City officially approved it more than a year ago.
Ludlow and Rivington streets on the Lower East Side will be known as “Beastie Boys Plaza,” and to celebrate the honor, the band’s surviving members Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz and Michael “Mike” ·D” Diamond will celebrate the honor with city officials and fans. Two-Hour Block Party The trio’s other founding member, Adam “MCA” Yauch, died in 2012.
As music fans around the world celebrate 50 years of hip-hop, the timing for the official unveiling of “Beastie Boys Square” couldn’t be more perfect.
