Disturbing footage shows the wife of a US Air Force pilot allegedly trying to kill her husband by pouring bleach into their home coffee machine multiple times during their divorce.
Melody Felicano Johnson, 39, was charged with attempted murder by Tucson, Arizona, police in August over her husband Roby Johnson’s murder in Germany and Arizona While at work, a chemical was spiked into his coffee.
Law & Crime on Wednesday obtained multiple hidden camera videos recorded by potential victims showing Johnson allegedly pouring toxic substances into the machine.
“Boom,” Robbie said in a self-recorded video after pulling a test strip from the home’s coffee machine that turned purple because it tested positive for chlorinated water.
The couple, who have children together, were in the midst of a divorce and while in Germany in March, Robbie started noticing his coffee had a smell that lasted about two weeks.
“He said she knew he would have the coffee pot ready in the evening so that in the morning he would just turn it on and make coffee,” court documents state. “He stopped drinking coffee at that point but continued to pretend to drink it.”
Court documents reveal that Robbie believed his wife was trying to poison him while they were in Germany and chose to collect evidence and wait until they returned to the United States before sharing the gruesome discovery with law enforcement.
In early July, the family moved to base housing at David Monson Air Force Base in Arizona.
Video from July 5 shows Johnson with a sinister look in his eyes as he carried out the near-fatal plan in the kitchen.
On July 6, he reported the incident to the Tucson Police Department.
However, the report was not followed up as the video reportedly did not clearly show what she poured into his drink.
Two weeks later, on July 16, Johnson was caught on camera pouring a large bottle of bleach into a smaller container in the couple’s laundry room.
Shortly after transferring the bleach, Johnson entered the kitchen and within seconds poured the contents of the small container into the coffee machine.
Robbie continues to test the coffee machine regularly, having realized that his wife is trying to kill him.
“You can smell it from here. You can smell it,” he announced in a video before testing the coffee machine.
“Look at this,” he said, pulling the positive test results out of the coffee machine.
“It’s completely changed,” Roby said, noting the test is now purple and positive.
Robbie was in complete disbelief and kept saying “wow” and showing off the bubbles inside the coffee machine’s water rack before ending the video.
Police detained Johnson on July 18 after Roby submitted evidence.
Court documents show Robbie believed she was trying to poison him for profit.
Johnson remains in the Pima County Jail on $250,000 bail and has been charged with attempted murder, attempted aggravated assault and adding poison to food/drinks, online records show.
Johnson asked for an attorney immediately after being taken into custody but was not questioned.
The judge ruled that Johnson was a flight risk because she has family in the Philippines and asked for a high bail.
