Morgantown, PA. — Pennsylvania State Police are searching for nine teenagers who escaped from a secure treatment and detention facility in Berks County on Sunday night.
The incident occurred sometime before 9 p.m. at Abraxas College in Morgantown, Pennsylvania.
According to state police, a disturbance occurred at the college on College Avenue. The juvenile offender escaped the facility and is now on the run.
State and local law enforcement responded to the scene and said the juvenile detention center was secured.
Police said fleeing teens should wear white or gray shirts.
There were also reported injuries to staff.
If anyone sees these teens, please call 911 immediately.
Abraxas Academy is a multi-service facility that provides secure residential treatment and detention services, according to its website.
This facility exclusively serves male youth ages 14 to 18 in ninth grade or above.
The incident occurred after the capture of Danelo Cavalcante, a convicted murderer who escaped from the Chester County Jail. Cavalcante spent 14 days on the run, leaving many in the community uneasy about the intense manhunt.
